This is one of the submissions that I hesitate to submit to DA because I don't know how to feel about them. I work largely from my own imagination and rarely, if ever, use reference so it's always weird to draw from a photograph. I don't mean to dog on the people that draw from photographs exclusively but I find that it doesn't require very much imagination and relies much more on technique and skill, much like a draftsman ( a skill which I could stand to work on a bit more). I prefer not to do it if I can help it but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to draw Indiana Jones. These are trading cards that are going to be randomly inserted into packs of Indiana Jones trading cards from Topps so Indy fans get the chance to pull an original piece of artwork when they buy packs of cards. Each card it drawn at only 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches(roughly the size of a baseball card) so I had very limited space but I found it to be a fun little exorcise. In fact, depending our your monitor size, you're seeing them at a bit bigger than I drew them.
All are done traditionally using anything I could find around my drawing table including copic markers, watercolor, prismacolor, pencil, and white and black ink. Each card took me anywhere from 10 minutes to 4 hours depending on the card. If you want to read more about the card set check out Topps at [link] Hope you dig! -Mark My Myspace: [link] |

So listen up boy, or pornography starring your mother will be the second worst thing that happens to you today.

Even the dog was like, "Daaaamn."
And, having finished some sketch cards of my own, I know how hard it is to get so much detail into such a small space.
Now I have to practice using copics, and the rest of your medium that you used here. These are amazing, Mark. I love how smooth the colors are, how defined the linework is and vibrant the cards are overall. Can I be like you someday? Let me steal your powers of drawing for a little while... I'll give you a beer or lager if you want.
