This is a sketch that got out of hand. Started as a pencil drawing and ended up being fully inked and rendered with ink, Copic markers, prismacolor, and white ink and then enhanced in photoshop. Depicts Marvel Comics Loki who is Thor's brother/sister. He/she was recently turned into a female when she was reincarnated through a woman's body. I know, weird right? But still a really cool design.

On another note, I have finally broke down and joined Twitter so please follow me on there and hear my day to day exploits and random thoughts as a pencil monkey: [link]

Hope you dig!

EDIT: Okay, there is a rash of comment from people who have taken the time to comment but not the time to actually read my explanation of the image. They are saying things like "But Loki is a dude!" or 'Learn your mythology'. As frustrating as this is I am controlling myself enough not to scream "read the text before you type!". Still though, I think a joke is called for in this case. Scroll down on this deviation or any deviation you see on DA and if you come across a person that obviously didn't read the text of the image before calling the artist out for a mistake they 'think' they made, reply to their comment calling them a 'frool' (meaning friendly fool or tool). No other explanation given, just the word. Maybe we can turn the tables and drive them a little crazy for a while as they try to figure out what a 'frool' is. Enjoy!

Well, I thought Marvel was above such beautiful things as genderbend but I guess they're not. It's such a beautiful painting, I really really love it. ^^ Great job!

I think it is very Loki-esque to call people frools. And oh what frools they be.

That aside, this is excellent and dead on with Marvels Lady Loki. Even in Norse mythology Loki was known for being a shape shifter so there you frools. :) I now have inspiration for cosplay.

I don't really understand why people would say anything about the gender swap. =\ In the actual lore, he or she or whatever is a shape-shifter, Loki is often depicted as a woman, or even female animals, and actually gives birth to one of his offspring at one point. I for one am very curious to see if Marvel will incorporate any of Loki's other forms, including the female ones, into the later films (heh, would they hire a Tom Hiddleston actress look-a-like? or make Tom look like a woman? lol). Though, considering how loosely it's based off the mythology side of things, and how (for lack of a better term) pop-culturey it is, not sure they will go in that direction. But regardless, I won't complain... Tom/Loki is epic as is. lol

Anyhow, really awesome fanart! =o Love how it looks like Loki is emerging from the snowy smoke. Also digging the style, its very well done, but still has this comic art feel to it, which suits it quite well. Also, great moving snow effect! I love the intensity of certain elements in this, and yet there's something nearly tranquil about it. Great piece!
