I got a call from my editors in the X-Men office at Marvel about a month ago to do some design work for some new Sentinels. for the last 30 or so years the Sentinels have had the same general design so Marvel wanted to spruce them up for the new Civil War story line going on this Summer. They didn't give me any other guidelines except to make them each look original and bad-ass. There are 5 all together named Warmachine, Crazytrain, Ogre, Shrapnel, and Megaton. Salvador Larroca designed Warmachine and Crazytrain so I was charged with doing the final 3. I tried to make them characteristic with their name and give them the ominous feel I think a Sentinel should have. Inspiration came from all over the place including Gundam, Transformers, Evangelion, Big O, Thundercats, and the 5th Element. I should also mention that these have all already been approved and are currently being drawn by Marvel artists for this Summer's comics. These aren't your father's Sentinels!

Dude, freakin awesome. Now THESE are sentinals to fear! The older ones I admit I feared but they were slightly comical in the humorous sense, these guys look formidable!

great design man. wonderful update with keeping some of the original character values in its place. no doubt your ability to render volume with only lines is quite amazing. much much respect for your comic endeavor good sir.

..i think it was a cool idea to make sentinels a little more human like.. you know.. like the Evangelion cyborgs.. i guess that wold be also cool !!
